The wheels roll on the tile floor.
As six pairs of feet walk through the door.
Three of us each push a little red cart,
while the mothers spread out and the shopping starts.
One box of muffins, one loaf of bread,
a few red peppers and a lettuce head;
Two bags of milk and some apples too,
Some Ramen noodles and a box of tofu.
Ingredients for taco salad,
enough pasta for ten days;
turkey, American cheese,
mustard and mayonnaise.
Some cookies and some oranges,
some bagels and cream cheese;
some crackers and potato chips,
and no more onions please!
The shoes click on the tile floor,
as only five pairs of feet walk out the door.
Three of us each carry two paper sacks,
And one of us carries a toddler on our back.
