1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Program Now Offered at All 16 Lake Libraries
Lake County, FL — The Lake County Library System is thrilled to now offer the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Program at every location. This nationally run program promotes early literacy and prepares children for academic success.
It also offers wonderful opportunities for parents to bond with their children through reading. Reading together from infancy will create lifelong memories and increase children’s interest in reading before they begin school.
Children as young as newborns can be enrolled and will remain in the program until they enter Kindergarten. The program can take anywhere from a few months to a few years. It’s self-paced, and the speed at which you finish is determined by how many books you read in a day. All it takes is one book a day.
If you read only one bedtime story every night for three years, you will have read 1,095 books. It’s that easy!
The program provides parents and caregivers with resources, such as reading logs and an app-based reading tracker to help them log their progress and make reading a fun, engaging part of a child’s daily routine.
