Tavares –The Lake County Library System is inviting the public to nominate Lake County poets to be considered for the newest Lake County Poet Laureate. 

 

Nominees must be at least 18 years old, a published poet through any medium, a resident of Lake County with a valid Lake County Library System card, and pass a background check. 

 

If chosen, this appointed volunteer will serve a two-year term hosting poetry readings for children, teens, and adults; directing poetry workshops; and must write a minimum of one poem specifically about Lake County.

 

The first Lake County Poet Laureate was Laura Sobbett Ross who served from 2018-2020. The search for the next Poet Laureate had been on hold due to COVID-19. 

 

Nominations will open on April 1, 2022. The deadline to submit a nominee for consideration is Saturday, April 30.
