Dreamer
By Rachel Waters
2003 Contest: Third Place
Laying on my back,
staring up
into the sky.
The way I find myself
time after time,
dreaming of better days.
With the next inhalation,
I wonder if you'll survive,
if the world will go on.
Dreaming of serenity,
a united world
without anger or hate.
Standing and taking a few steps,
and wondering if I'm...
dreaming of the impossible.
I look into the dusk's sky,
and watch the sun go down,
the beautiful colors,
they remind me of a snow globe,
I once saw.
I wish that I was in that snow globe,
trapped in the perfect world,
to dream my life away.
