Lake County, Florida, is seeking a bold, strategic, and human-centered Office of Library Services Director to lead one of the most dynamic cooperative library systems in the state. This role is the Single Administrative Head of a system that includes six County-operated branch libraries and a cooperative network of ten municipal partner libraries, serving communities that range from fast-growing suburban corridors near the theme parks to small towns, natural springs, lakes, and a well-loved Parks and Trails system. We are looking for a visionary bridge builder who can think big, communicate clearly, and lead with empathy. Someone who understands the politics of public service, the power of partnerships, and the daily realities of frontline library work. In short: finesse required, ego not invited.

This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who thrives at the intersection of strategy, service, and stewardship. The Director develops long- and short-range plans, guides major capital projects including renovations and a new branch, introduces new digital resources and databases, prepares and defends budgets, administers grants, and coordinates construction, space planning, and technology enhancements. You will serve as the system’s public face and media spokesperson, liaison to the Library Advisory Board and the Board of County Commissioners, and a trusted partner to County leadership, municipal library directors, and community organizations. The right leader will bring political acumen, emotional intelligence, and a genuine love of public service, with the ability to zoom out to the countywide vision and zoom in to support the people who make libraries work every single day.

This position shall be required to assist with emergency support functions in the event of a declared emergency and/or any other emergency duties as assigned.

Requires a valid Florida driver's license.

Education/Qualifications:
Requires a master's degree in Library Science from a college or university accredited by the American Library Association with seven (7) years of progressively responsible related experience.
