I grew up in Wisconsin and moved to Florida soon after college. In 1994, I began to pursue my library career…from part-time Library Assistant to Branch Manager; from Staff Development Librarian to Assistant Library Director; and now as Cagan Crossings newest Branch Manager - I love it. I believe a good public library fosters a community filled with information, imagination, and inquiry. A Library does this through friendly service and accessible resources. It is exciting to know that what I do every day at work, affects so many people in our community.
In addition to being a librarian, I am also a wife and mom of 4 (3 big kids: 25, 22, 21 and one little kid: 8).
Not surprisingly, I have a passion for books and knowledge and most times you will find me with some kind of reading material in hand - be it a book, a magazine or an electronic device. Right now, I am thoroughly enjoying Sue Monk Kidd’s true mother/daughter memoir “Traveling with Pomegranates” - the book is a beautifully told coming of age story.
I find inspiration in life through stories and we all have the ability to be storytellers in our own unique way - through our creative selves. For me I create “scent stories” by developing perfumes - my perfumes are designed to evoke a mood or memory of a person, place or time. This allows me to be creative, philosophical and artistic all while playing the mad scientist – mixing and weighing chemical compounds, tincturing, melting resins, studying ancient formulas and blending my potions into beakers and vials; a throwback to 15th century alchemy
