Money Smart Week is a public awareness campaign designed to help consumers better manage their personal finances. This is achieved through the collaboration and coordinated effort of hundreds of organizations across the country including businesses, financial institutions, schools, libraries, not-for-profits, government agencies and the media. These groups come together once a year to stress the importance of financial literacy, inform consumers about where they can get help and provide free educational seminars and activities throughout the week.
Lake County Library System is excited to be part of the Money Smart Week @Your Library campaign as a Money Smart Partner with the Federal Reserve Bank and American Library Association. Locally we are pleased to have partnered with the University of Florida/IFAS Lake County Extension, Florida Small Business Development Center at the University of Central Florida, Sun Trust Bank of Leesburg, and PNC Bank of Groveland to help consumers learn to better manage their personal finances. Workshops will be offered at The Leesburg Public Library, Marion Baysinger Memorial County Library, Cagan Crossings Community Library, and Lady Lake Public Library. Topics will include Work At Home Schemes, Women and Money, Identify Theft, and other Practical Money Skills. In addition the Leesburg Public Library and Cagan Crossings Community Library are offering workshops for teens.
