CAGAN LIBRARY CHESS TOURNAMENT

Saturday, August 19, 2017 - Cagan Library will host 2 chess tournaments. One is a free tournament open to any who wish to participate. The other is an officially sanctioned USCF tournament which requires up to date membership with the United States Chess Federation. (uschess.org) The format for the sanctioned tournament is 5-round SS/G/40 d5. [Five rounds under the Swiss System with 40 minute clock and 5-second delay]. First round begins at 9am, so please arrive 8:45 or before to register.

Entry fee for the official tournament is $20 in advance or $25 day of tournament. Entry fee for Seniors 65+, Juniors (up thru 16 yrs) and USCF members with conditional ratings is $10 or $15 day of tournament. Fees for Grand Masters are waived.

Prizes for sanctioned tournament for 1st 2nd & 3rd place finishes: $100/50/25 based on 10 full-pay registrations. Prizes increase by $40/20/10 for each 5 full-pay registrations over 10. Winners in both the free and sanctioned tournaments also win trophies.
