The Cagan Crossings Friends of the Library are sponsoring a chess tournament Saturday, August 15th at the Cagan Library located at 16729 Cagan Oaks Blvd, Clermont, Fl. The tournament is officially sanctioned by the United States Chess Federation (USCF) and the format is 5SS/G40/D5. Entry fee for the sanctioned tournament is $40 or $50 at the door. Checks, no later than August 1. Grand Master fees waived. Another free tournament is also being run concurrently, for which no USCF membership is required.

Please arrive before 9 am. with your USCF ID, which is required to win any of the cash prizes. Memberships can be acquired thru the USCF website at: WWW.USCHESS.ORG. Prizes awarded for the sanctioned tournament are: $200/100/50 after 10 paid registrations and increase by pro-rate each 10 paid registrations thereafter. Chess medals will be awarded for top 3 places in the free-entry tournament.

Please bring a set and chess clock if possible and arrive promptly by 8:45 am for registration so that matches can proceed as scheduled. Lunch break is included in the match schedule, which continues through to 5 pm. Awards determined immediately after 5 pm matches complete by SwissSys8 software.
