The Leesburg Public Library is having its first ever Comic-Con to kick off Summer Reading 2015! This event will feature authors, artists, Klingons, vendors, Daleks, facepainters, and lots more throughout the library. This event is free for all ages from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 13th, 2015.

The Friends of the Leesburg Public Library and Heroes Landing Comic Book Store are pleased to announce that The Ken Spivey Band will be playing a free concert at the library Comic-Con at 3 p.m. The Ken Spivey Band is an MTV.com praised Time Lord Rock group that combines Steampunk elements with mad Celtic energy into Time-Wimey, theatrical, and comedic revelry.

In the library’s meeting rooms will be guest speaker, programs, and concerts throughout the day. At 10 a.m., Grabthar’s Hammer will be playing a free all your favorite Sci-Fi themes in a free concert. At 11 a.m. author and editor Rick Wilbur will be discussing his newest anthology Baseball Stories of the Strange & Supernatural. Like to be scared? Then don’t miss Dying to Be Scared: Why we love horror & how to write an effective horror novel with author Chris Berman at noon. At 1 p.m. Dr. Geek’s Lab presents The Science of Star Trek. At 2 p.m. there will be a live action role playing demo from the Serenity Lakes Group in the amphitheater behind the library.

The library will have authors and artists in attendance throughout the day, including Chris Berman, Lindsay Cannizzaro, CM Herndon, Jon Lewis Draws Things, Joe Luby Ink, Roland Mann, Sarah Nicholas, Billy Penn, Lakisha Spletzer, Panda Jay Productions, Sherri Rose, J.E. Tobal, and Marc Wondolowski. There will also be special FX makeup Demos from Artistic Transformations F/X and facepainting by Miss Mandi. Don’t forget your camera for a photo op with a dalek courtesy the Guardians of Gallifrey, Central Florida’s Doctor Who fan club.

Special guests and vendors at the event include the USS Haven Star Trek Club, The Orlando area Science Fiction Society, Lake County Steampunk Society, Geek Out Fashion, Heroes Landing Comics, Bath Nerd, Hatman, JLBCreatives, Kingstone Media, Not Just Cardboard, Pint Sized Geeks, and Sticker Dork. The Monsta Lobsta food truck will also be at the library for this event.
